OLPH-Glendale Student Becomes Pilot for a Day

(Oct 31) Joey Black, a kindergartener at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Glendale was given the opportunity to become a fighter pilot for a day at Luke Air Force Base west of Phoenix. Joey is a cancer patient and this was one of his wishes. Once at Luke, he was teamed up with Major Tom Stewart. Major Stewart gave Joey his flight suit to wear and even had his name and call-sign painted on the canopy of the F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jet.


Christ the King to Break Ground for New Chapel

(October 28) Christ the King will have a chapel groundbreaking ceremony this Saturday immediatly following the 4:00 p.m. Mass (appoximately 5:15 p.m.) Stick around after the groundbreaking for their annual fall festival in the school courtyard. The festival will be open from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

(October 26) There will be a memorial Mass for Father James Kelly at Our Lady of the Valley on October 29th at 4 p.m. Our Lady of the Valley is located at 3220 W. Greenway Road, Phoenix


Seton Catholic Students Prepares for the Annual Mission Trip to Mexico


(October 25) The National Spanish Honor Society and Spanish Club are kicking-off their fundraising projects for the annual Mission to Agua Prieta Mexico.  This is the third year for the "Volunteers in Service" Mission Trip. A group of about 20 Seton students journey to Agua Prieta Mexico during spring break to work and serve the poor, orphaned and elderly.<more info >

Catholic Author and TV Personality to Speak at St. Gabriel Parish, Oct. 21 & 22

(Oct 20) — Best-selling Catholic author and EWTN television host Patrick Madrid will visit St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Cave Creek on October 21 and 22 to present seminars on the biblical and historical foundations of the Catholic Faith.
The seminars will be informative, Bible-based apologetics presentations that will focus on answering typical questions asked about the Catholic Church, its practices, and its teachings. The event will begin at 7 p.m. and is open to the public. Admission is $10.

National Hispanic Recognition Goes to Seton Catholic Students

(Oct 17) Paul D. White and Michelle K. Sheydayi, both members of the senior class at Seton Catholic High School have been recognized as Scholars by the College Board's National Hispanic Recognition Program, as announced by Principal Patricia Collins.

(Oct 11)The Friends of the Orphans held an event at St. Mary’s Basilica and the Diocesan courtyard on Tuesday. This is an annual event for diocesan grade schools and includes about 20 pequeños who are visiting from Mexico.

The mission of Friends of the Orphans is to provide financial resources for orphaned, abandoned and disadvantaged children (“pequeños”) in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Busloads of grade school students arrived for 10:00 Mass at the Basilica. Following Mass, the students came into the Center conference rooms for a cultural exchange.

At 11:50 the Pequeños performed with the singing and dancing of traditional Mexican style.
