Saint Theresa Catholic School Helps St. Vincent de Paul Society

St Theresa
Saint Theresa Catholic School Student Council members present a $1,000 check to theSaint Vincent de Paul Society.

(Feb 18) As part of Catholic Schools Week (January 29 to February 4, 2006), Saint Theresa Catholic School students worked together to bring in thousands of toiletry items for the Saint Vincent de Paul Conference at Saint Theresa Parish.  Items people use every day—like soap, deodorant, toilet paper and shampoo—are luxuries for those who can barely put food on their tables.  Each class at Saint Theresa was charged with bringing in a different item and all the items were collected and presented to Steve Zabilski, executive director of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, and local representatives Marilyn Carrigan and Jean Massimi at an all-school assembly last week.
The Student Council also presented Saint Vincent de Paul with a check for $1,000, which were the proceeds of two Buck-A-Jean Days and a spirit line clinic put on by members of the Xavier College Prep Spirit Line held at Saint Theresa over Christmas break.
The theme for Catholic Schools Week this year was Character, Compassion, and Values, and St Theresa’s celebration this year centered on service to others.
