Stations of the Cross:  Jesus Suffering & Crucified in the Children of the World Today

February 26, Friday, 7-8:30 pm

Created by Deborah Jones (Director of Liturgy), Sr. Peggy Chambers (Pastoral Associate), and Br. James Swan, OFM (Director of Music)  at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Sacramento, California.

During Holy Week of 1991, Pope John Paul II initiated and celebrated a new way of praying the Stations of the Cross, based on the scriptural accounts of Christ’s passion.

Join us as we pray the stations as Pope John Paul II did on that Good Friday, 1991.  These stations follow Jesus on the way of the cross.  By the creative use of contemporary masks, they focus on Jesus still suffering and crucified in the children of the world today.  Although this suffering can be overwhelming to contemplate, we are reminded by the Fifteenth Station, “Jesus is Raised from the Dead,” that we are people of the resurrection. This special evening of prayer closes with all those present taking an active role in the renewal of hope.

Suggested donation:  $5.
