Last year, after the approval of the Bishop and the Presbyteral Council, the Diocese of

September of 2007 four days were spent filming throughout Arizona, involving several local

parishes. Local Catholics shared their testimony of coming home. Clergy, religious and laity

from throughout the Diocese were involved in the professional and sometimes tedious

production of these incredible commercials. An Adult Evangelization Committee made up

of local priest and catechetical leaders in children's, youth and adult evangelization helped

assess the needs of those who were returning and create the Resources for Returning

Catholics. The commercials, scripts, and website were translated and made available in

Catholics Come Home, Inc. is a private non-profit Catholic apostolate that creates and

broadcasts effective and compassionate media messages to evangelize inactive Catholics,

and invite them to live a deeper faith in Jesus Christ, through the teachings of the Roman

Catholic Church. Catholics Come Home Inc. is not directly affiliated with the Diocese of

Phoenix or the Vatican but is made up of faith-filled individuals who after returning to their

Catholic faith or re-discovering the riches of their tradition desire to share their experience

with others and lovingly invite them back.

Catholics Come Home began in 1998 with the creation of a multimedia campaign for the

Diocese of Phoenix. In a matter of only a few weeks, the ads, blessed by God’s grace,

helped 3,000 inactive souls, return to their Catholic faith!

Soon afterward, the Catholics Come Home video resources were shared with other parishes

and diocese across the United States, then with other countries. This campaign helped

countless inactive Catholics rediscover the Catholic faith and return home.

Today, the team at Catholics Come Home, Inc. combines the effectiveness of mass media

outreach, with the ease of web-based fulfillment, to create a highly effective communication

campaign. After viewing an inviting and inspiring television commercial, viewers are directed

to visit the catholicscomehome.com website to learn more about the Catholic faith, and

learn how to return home.

The commercials launch March 3rd and will be aired 950 times on all major network

KASW-TV 6/61,plus the Cox Cable networks of ESPN, FOX, LIFETIME, CARTOON NETWORK,

99% of the households in the PHX DMA (viewers in the Valley and Northern AZ)

Parishes are encouraged to show the commercials to their parishioners. Either in the

context of Mass or regularly scheduled activities it is our hope that active Catholics

will get excited about this opportunity and recognize the need to share their faith. More

CatholicsComeHome.org will have streaming versions of the commercials share soon.

Because this is a test-market for the launch of a national campaign CatholicComeHome.org

will be working closely with the Diocese to assess the impact of these commercials.

Statistical data produced from website activity during airing will be combined with the

observations of pastors, receptionists, and catechetical leaders. A web-based survey will be

sent out to priests, deacons, catechetical leaders, parish secretaries and receptionists
