Leadership Conference for Parish Catechetical and Youth Leaders

January 6-11, 2008

Diocesan Pastoral Center

Background

Following the lead of Popes John Paul II and Benedict XVI, the Basic Training Conference is designed to equip Parish Catechetical and Youth Leaders to meet the demands of fostering the New Evangelization in our Diocese. The Basic Training Conference provides the participant with an understanding of catechetical methodology, leadership skills, and the pastoral issues facing leaders in the parish.

This conference will help new and experienced leaders focus on developing the right vision, the relationships, and methodologies for evangelization and catechesis. Designed by veteran catechetical leaders from the Diocese of Phoenix, this conference will help you focus on the essential areas that lead to fruitful, disciple-making outreach.

Whether you are new to your position, or if you need a refresher, please join us for this special time of growth and nourishment.

For Pastors

Research in the field of lay ecclesial ministry confirms that leaders develop longevity in parish positions when they receive training that prepares them directly for their ministry. Professional training supports both the catechetical program and the person leading the program. Parishes benefit from this training through sustained vision and long-term commitment from their leaders.

Consistency in parish leadership creates an environment for conversion in the life of the parish. The Basic and Advanced Training Conferences (see below) are designed to equip and prepare leaders for the challenges that lie ahead and to help others know the saving message of Jesus Christ.

Certification and Credentialing

The Diocese of Phoenix offers an Advanced Training Conference in January which continues and furthers leadership formation in the areas of parish catechesis and youth evangelization. By attending the Basic and Advanced Training Conferences, along with completing the given assignments from Advanced Training, participants will be granted a certificate of completion.

The Basic and Advanced Training Conferences can be applied towards credentialing and recredentialing as a coordinator or director.

The training can be taken for either personal enrichment (auditing) or for a certificate.
