Catechist Studies
Kino is pleased to work with the Office of Catholic Schools and the Office of Young Adult and Youth Ministry to provide an alternative credentialing process for Catholic School Teachers and Youth Ministry Catechists. Three six-week survey courses fulfill the requirements of the Diocese to be a catechist in Catholic schools. These courses fulfill the basic requirements.

CAT101 - The Catechist: Basic Beliefs
This survey course examines basic beliefs and doctrines of the Catholic Church. The course includes an introduction to scripture, Jesus Christ, morality, liturgy and sacraments, Church history, justice and peace, and the vision, mission, and ministry of the Church.

CAT102 - The Catechist: Purpose, Role, & Spirituality
This survey course examines the critical role of catechists as a response to God’s call to holiness. It explores the themes of conversion, ministry, and spirituality in the context of catechists and presents an understanding of moral and faith developments of those to be catechized.

CAT103 - The Catechist: Living Faith
This course addresses the work of catechists in the context of today’s world. It explores the family perspective of Christian living, cultural issues relevant to discipleship in the modern world, types of prayer, and planning prayer for catechetical settings.
