Celebrating Marriage Event with Bishop Olmsted

To honor those who have nurtured and sustained their marriages, the Diocese of Phoenix sponsors a Mass and luncheon every year that celebrates marriage and the commitment you have made. Couples celebrating their 25th, 40th, and 50+ marriages who register will receive a special blessing at the Mass, a certificate of remembrance from the Bishop and places of honor at the luncheon.

This year’s Celebration will be on February 9, 2007 at Saints Simon and Jude Cathedral (map). Bishop Olmsted will be the celebrant for the Mass which begins at 10 AM. This year's speaker at the 11:30 luncheon will be the internationally acclaimed Katrina Zeno speaking on "Marriage, the Great Mystery."  We hope you can join us for this wonderful celebration of marriage.  Family members who would like to celebrate with you are most welcome for the event.  Professional childcare is provided free of charge.

Registration is required for the luncheon and/or childcare.  Click here for a mail-in registration form.  Forms need to be post-dated by February 5th in order to register on time.

Questions:  Call Rosemarie Carreon at (602) 354-2356.

Anniversaries

Celebrating an anniversary is not merely recalling past events—the day of your wedding—it is rather a chance to renew and deepen your commitment to marriage, after one, ten, or fifty years. Anniversaries should be cherished in a world that sees a relationship’s longevity as an oddity and not as the norm. With divorce being so prevalent in our world, many have lost the sense of beauty surrounding a life-long commitment of love shared between two people. This commitment is renewed each and everyday by the couple as they seek to image God’s love more perfectly. Anniversaries are a way to acknowledge that effort each year.
