Theology of the Body

The “Theology of the Body” consists of 129 collected Wednesday audiences given by Pope John Paul II at the beginning of his pontificate. These audiences are a reflection on scripture, beginning with Genesis and discussing key passages in scripture relating to our identity as human persons, our vocation to love one another and God, and in particular, the meaning of human sexuality. Through these reflections, John Paul II gives us insight into our common human vocation to love, but in particular, he sheds light on the vocations to marriage and the celibate life of religious and priests. He asks us to think deeply about what it means to be a human being and how we apply that to our particular vocations.
