Dear Brothers and Sisters,

We are very blessed at Our Lady of Mount Carmel with men and women, young and old, who have dedicated themselves to a life of service. These wonderful people make our parish community a better place to encounter and experience the love of God. Whether it is bringing communion to our homebound or proclaiming the Word of God at Mass, our brothers and sisters are doing God’s work through ministry. Many have come to understand the call of discipleship, and we say “THANK-YOU” for your “YES” in serving the Lord through ministry.

Jesus calls all of us in the world to answer the call of discipleship. Christ calls us to feed the hungry and to give aide to the poor. We are called to visit the sick and lonely and actively promote peace and justice in our world. We are called to be a voice for the voiceless as we protect the innocent. We, in short, are called to live out the vocation that God gave us through the waters of baptism. In order to live our lives for the glory of His name, we must become involved in ministry.

As your Pastor, I want to encourage all of you to think about becoming involved in at least one ministry. I believe that we need to make sure our FAITH becomes alive. Ministry allows us to do just that. Everyone is needed to help in our task of building up the Kingdom of God. No one is excused, for there is a ministry for each and every one of us to do.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel has many exciting ways to become involved. Whether you have a little or a lot of time to give, young or old or somewhat in-between, we have a ministry for you. I encourage you to prayerfully read this book and ask God where He is calling you to serve. I am sure that if you do, God will point you to the perfect place you can honor him through active ministry.

May we all answer the call of discipleship and go forth through ministry building His Kingdom. Let’s continue a long tradition of making our parish the best that it can be. May God bless you in your call of service.

Love,

Fr. Mark
