The Altar Servers will be holding Patens at Communion - if there are not enough Altar Servers, the Alternate EM is to be asked to serve at Communion holding a Paten.

ALTERNATE – The alternate will serve only if a priest or deacon is unable to serve, or if someone does not show up for Mass.

All EM’s should come to mass prepared to serve on the altar - dressed appropriately.  All EM’s are responsible to find someone to serve for them if they are unable to make it to the mass assigned, including the scheduled alternate ministers.  Please do not assume that the scheduled alternate minister will be able to serve for you!   Remember to get someone to substitute for you if you are unable to serve when scheduled!
