St. Catherine LaBoure’ Finance Council Minutes August 6, 2003
Present: Father Fred LaClaire, Dennis Bethke, Mary DeWitt, Mike Holmes, Janeen Oquist and Vern Nadeau.
Meeting was called to order at 6:30pm with a prayer by Fr. Fred.
Fr. Fred - presented a copy of the “Diocese of Phoenix Financial Administrative Policies, Procedures and Guidelines” to all the members of the Finance Council.
- asked that a member of the Finance Council be a signer on the parish checking account. Dennis Bethke, Mary DeWitt and Vern Nadeau all said that they would be available during the day as a signer. Fr. Fred said that he would decide who would best fulfill the need and get back with them.
- according to Diocesan Guidelines, a member of the Finance Council must be present when the Mass collection is counted. Finance Council will take over the “Counting Team” ministry duties from Larry Cox with each member taking responsibility for designated Sundays.

Finance Council member will be responsible for the opening and locking of the cabinet in the sacristy; retrieving of the monies for counting and taking it to the rectory where the collection will be counted. The lock on the cabinet in the sacristy will be changed to a keyless lock and combination be given to Finance Council members only.
- Water Storage Tanks need to be erected as soon as possible in order for St. Catherine’s to be in compliance with Town of Chino Valley Building Code. Current bid is approx. $18,000 with additional bids to be submitted for review. Money for this project will be drawn from the Building Fund Savings account. Petitions will be made to replenish this savings account and noted as ‘designated’ Building Fund offerings.
Al Wittal presented estimate on completion of remodeling the rectory garage so it can be used for meetings by the various groups in lieu of the hall. Material for completing the renovation including, insulating walls and ceiling, S1S paneling, electrical outlets and ceiling fans is approx. $1094.07 from Hunts.
Finance Council approved expenditure of $1600.00 for remodeling material and labor.
Estimate for 12' wood shed w/plywood floor for storage of lawn equipment and various tools was presented and
approved by Finance Council in the amount of $600.00
Mary DeWitt and Janeen Oquist will co-chair future meetings. The Finance Council will meet on the first Monday of each month 6:30pm in the rectory. The meeting is open to the public as observers only.
A dismissal prayer was given by Fr. Fred. Vern made a motion, seconded by Janeen to adjourn at 8:10 pm.
The next meeting will be on September 1, 2003.
