Religious Education for Grades K to 12 (Sacramental Preparation) For children who have been Baptized Catholic (For children who have not been baptized Catholic please click here for our CIC (Christian Initiation of Children) Program information.) Due to a change in the Confirmation policy for the Diocese of Phoenix, Sacraments are administered in the following grades:
Religious Education classes and Sacramental preparation will be offered on the first and third Sunday each month from August to May. Parents will attend a half-hour educational session. Children in grades K to 3 will attend an activity based session in the hall. Children in grades 4 and up will attend the educational session with their parents. Classes are scheduled to begin at 8 AM in August, September, April and May. Classes will begin at 9 AM in October, November, December, January, February, and March. This will allow your family the opportunity to attend Mass either on Saturday night, or on Sunday. Weekly Mass attendance is a requirement for students preparing to receive a Sacrament. Without weekly attendance at Mass, your child will be unable to continue in their Sacramental preparation. Per Diocesan requirements, parents and children preparing for a Sacrament must also participate in a retreat, and complete a Family Service Project. Parents will be provided with materials to prepare their children for the reception of Sacraments at home. NOTE:
Families are encouraged to attend if their child was Baptized Catholic (Kindergarten and up), even if they are not of age to receive a Sacrament, or have completed their Sacraments. This will offer you a “head start” in preparing your child, or a time to continue to learn and grow stronger in the Sacramental life of the Church. Registration for this program is closed as of July 31, 2008, unless you have just moved to our area. If you have any questions regarding the new program, please contact Deacon Mike Holmes. Classes will be held scheduled as follows:
