Extraordinary
Ministers assist the celebrant with the distribution
of the Body and Blood of Jesus at Mass.
Membership:
Open to all registered parishioners who are
practicing, confirmed Roman Catholics with no
obstacle to the Church’s teaching (example:
married once in the Catholic Church by a Priest or,
if remarried having obtained an annulment and the
second marriage convalidated).
Training:
One 3 hour initial training and one 1 hour
annual refresher training.
Other trainings as required.
Extraordinary
Ministers are expected to report to the sacristy at
least 25 minutes before Mass begins and dress
appropriately. In order to maintain the integrity of
the celebration of the Eucharist, Extraordinary Ministers, once scheduled,
are required to secure their own replacement in the
event they cannot fulfill their commitment. |
