WHAT IS IT?
The Legion of Mary is the largest apostolic
organization of lay people in the Catholic Church,
with well over 3 million active members in almost
every country of the world. It has been active in
the United States since 1931, has been approved by
the last 6 Popes, and was endorsed by the Second
Vatican Council. The main purpose of the Legion of
Mary is to give glory to God through the
sanctification of its members.
WHAT DO WE DO?
Our work is supported
by the prayers of our auxiliary members. We go to the three nursing homes in
our parish twice a week to pray the rosary with the
Catholic patients and bring them communion. We also
visit the families of the newly baptized and bring a
rosary and miraculous medal for the children. We
visit the sick and the bereaved, and we give
instructions to shut ins who want to become Catholic
or return to the practice of our faith. During the
Catholics Come Home campaign we do door to door
work. We have a monthly mass and breakfast as a
special work to build a sense of community within
our own ranks. In May we sponsor the parish's
Living Rosary and crowning of the Blessed Mother.
We meet every Thursday at 10 a.m. and will always
welcome new members. |
