Did You Know?:  Because of the strong academic foundation in our primary grades, which continues through the middle school, students in the 8th grade are scoring in the 96 percentile rank in Reading, 93 percentile in Math, and 99 percentile in Language.   Fantastic job teachers!  Students you are amazing - great work!  You have a bright future ahead of you.  Source: The Iowa Tests, Fall 2007 Summary

 Good News!:  For those who have not already heard, in March, The Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust awarded an $8 million grant to the Diocese of Phoenix for improvement of Catholic elementary schools.  Christ the King is pleased to announce that we will be receiving over 10% of that total grant award for much needed building improvements to our school!   The grant will be paid out over the course of three years.  The items that will be included and cost, along with the year the improvements will be completed are listed as follows:

           2008 - Electrical panel relocations $9,772; foam roofing system $195,434.

            2009 - Parking lot $390,869.

           2010 - New lamps $3,909; lamps relensed $977; new hot water piping 
                     $29,315; new heat pumps $78,174; dual pane windows $107,489.

 

Did You Know:  Using the Accelerated Reading program, our students have read over 102,600,000 words this school year.  26 students reached the million word mark, 6 students read over 2 million words and 2 students read over 3 MILLION WORDS.  Students in Kindergarten through 8th grade read and tested on over 8,300 books.  As you can see, AR is one of our many academic programs that are providing a foundation of academic excellence for our children.  Great job teachers!  Great job students!

 

More Good News!:  Christ the King Catholic School has been awarded a grant of $7,000 from the Catholic Community Foundation.  This grant is to be used for tuition assistance, at the discretion of the principal, for the 2008-2009 school year.  The Catholic Community Foundation was founded in 1983. It is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization whose mission is "To carry on the work of Christ by fostering philanthropy."  Its purpose is to promote charitable giving from private sources through fundraising, special events, and special projects in support of grant and scholarship programs. With assets of more than $52 million, the Foundation specializes in endowment and grant fund management, as well as estate planning for the Catholic community.
