Freshman Year:
Assisting students with the transition from grade school
to high school; begin building a four year academic portfolio.
Sophomore Year:
Developing greater personal insights by identifying personal
abilities, aptitudes, and interests that impact academic and
career planning.
Junior Year:
Exploring post-secondary options, taking entrance tests,
selecting potential colleges, researching scholarships and
financial resources.
Senior Year:
Reviewing career and academic plans; finalization of post
secondary options; complete necessary college applications,
financial aid and scholarship forms; finalize a resume.

Academic Counseling
Notre Dame Preparatory counselors support students in
their academic endeavors by meeting with them individually
or through in-class presentations. Counselors help students
with yearly course selections, develop a four- year plan ,
and to maintain a guidance portfolio. Progress reports are
monitored and parent-teacher meetings are arranged by the
counselors. Accommodation plans are created according to verifiable
needs and available resources.

Personal Counseling
Counselors support students by listening and offering options
in decision making, and conflict resolution skills. Support
groups are offered for various target groups. Counselors are
a referral resource to various community agencies.
College Admissions Counseling
Through in-class presentations, college fairs, college visits
to the NDP campus, and individual counseling sessions, students
are provided assistance in identifying, researching and selecting
appropriate post secondary educational options. College catalogs,
online resources and print materials are utilized to find
a good fit for the next phase of educational endeavor for
each student. Scholarship and financial aid information and
assistance are available.
Career Counseling
This service assists students with exploring, identifying
and understanding their interests, abilities and careers preferences.
Career Inventories are available to students. Counselors help
students schedule a curriculum relative to potential career
aspirations.
College Career Center
The counseling department career center is located in the
library. The career center offers information on colleges,
financial aid, and scholarships.
