St. Gregory Catholic School has served the parish and surrounding geographic area since 1949. In the early years, there were 110 students in grades 1-4. These students came from the neighborhood. The school soon expanded to a full 8 grades, and in 1951 graduated its first class, with 26 students.
At the zenith of population in the area, St. Gregory accommodated 856 students, primarily from the surrounding neighborhoods. Today, St. Gregory Catholic School welcomes more than 300 students, many of whom commute from outlying areas in the Valley to attend.
Religion has always headed the curriculum at St. Gregory's. The school has always recognized that the basic training in Christian living must originate and be continued under the direction of the parents in the home.
The school is fully accredited by the North Central Association and Western Catholic Education Association.
