MRS.
HANSELL’S FOURTH GRADE WEB PAGE
Grade
four has worked very hard this year. Recently,
we’ve written wonderful humorous limericks and proceeded to express our
thoughts about nature using the poetry of haiku.
Mathematics has been an exciting subject as we’ve mastered all of our
operations, done extensive work with fractions and decimals.
As we close out the year, we’ll spend time working with measurement and
geometry.
It
seems as if we’ve traveled throughout the United States because we’ve
explored the Southeast, Northeast, Midwest, and Southwest regions of our nation.
Learning about the exciting and unique plant and animal life of our
desert has enabled us to do research resulting in terrific reports,
illustrations, and fine Arizona books.
Our
last book report was based on non-fiction reading.
Some of the many areas read about were Elizabeth I, currencies of the
world, penguins, whales, Anne Frank and her time, and the solar system.
The
students experienced a unique event, the selection of a new Pope (Benedict XVI).
As a class we were able experience the sadness associated with the
passing of Pope John Paul II, the selection process for a new Holy Father, and
the ceremonies for the installation of the new Pope.
It
has been an exhilarating year and with almost a month left, we are studying
intensively, working hard, and continuing to be intellectually curious.
Hooray for Class 4A.
