Athletics

Spartan Country!

The interscholastic athletic program at St. Gregory Catholic School is an integral part of our educational program. It must, therefore, be in harmony with our educational objectives. All of our interscholastic athletic programs will teach our students:

1.    To be a responsible and contributing team member.

2.    To be thoughtful and giving in working with others.

3.    To develop an appreciation of others’ efforts.

4.    To establish balance between extracurricular sports and the classroom.

Athletics should be a significant, valuable community activity.  Participation in sports should foster loyalty, school spirit, and healthy competition.

The main objective of our sports programs is to develop qualities of leadership, cooperation and to promote a Christian atmosphere where athletes, coaches, and parents will grow in respect and concern for others in their own environment as well as in society as a whole.  Emphasis will be placed on game fundamentals.  Teachers, coaches and parents should encourage the players to give their best, improve their skills, and have fun while playing the sport.

The after school sports programs consists of volleyball, basketball, and softball for girls and football, basketball, and baseball for boys.  Sports are available for 5th – 8th grade students who maintain the required grades.

Fees for individual sports will be announced at the beginning of each season. The coach will collect the fee for each sport at the appropriate time. No one may play sports if the fee is not paid. Funds help pay for the C.Y.A.A. fees, uniforms, equipment and officials.

Students who are absent for any reason are not permitted to participate in the day's game or practice.
