"When given a choice to sit out or dance, just dance."  Teaching in its greatest form is reciprocal. In every respect it is a profession of hope and sharing - for as the teacher teaches, she learns; and as the student learns, he/she teaches.  The relationship between a student and a teacher is one of life's most precious.  As an upper hall teacher, I consider it a blessing to "dance" with your children each year.  It is hard to express the delight, challenge, pride and enthusiasm I feel as the new school year begins.

Year-to-date:

Working hard, playing hard, growing and changing is what’s happening in 8th grade. Though they have been visiting the high schools and seem to be away a lot from our school, twenty of the students made first or second honors last month. Several of the same students participated in our after school sports and drama. Everyone learned the "achy-breaky" for the Fall Festival. Happily we won first place. Each student wrote, typed, or drew for the first edition of our school newspaper, Spartan News. All of our students have been working closely with their kindergarten buddies to build community across the grades. Coloring, drawing, singing, and playing seem to be enjoyed no matter what the age. On December 21,we will be presenting the 8th grade traditional performance of the birth of Jesus for the whole school.

Each day, of course, the eighth graders try to remember to be role models-to respect ourselves, others and things, and to contribute to the learning environment.
