Snapshot Facts About Saint Mary's
Enrollment. We opened the 2006/2007 school year with an enrollment of 842 students, 250 freshmen, 210 sophomores, 208 juniors, and 174 seniors. We have 420 boys and 422 girls. Our freshman class has 125 boys and 125 girls.
Class Sizes. For the 2006/2007 school year, opening average class sizes in each academic discipline were: English 25.0, Mathematics 24.1, Science 23.1, Social Studies 23.7, Theology 25.8, and Foreign Language 21.5 Cumulatively over the prior four years, average class sizes in each academic discipline were: English 27.5, Mathematics 26.1, Science 25.2, Social Studies 24.8, Theology 26.9, and Foreign Language 23.8.
Ethnicity. Our student body continues to be culturally and ethnically diverse, with families declaring the following backgrounds: 1.8% Native American, 8.3% African American, 1.3% Asian/Pacific Islander, 46.0% Hispanic, 33.8% White, and 8.8% Multi-Racial.
Catholicism. Approximately 87% of our students are members of families who are active, participating members of a Catholic parish. Sixty parishes are represented in our student body. More than 90% of our faculty is Catholic.
Family. The family tradition remains strong: 11% of incoming freshmen are children of graduates and 27% have a brother or sister who has attended the school.
Geography. Our freshman class comes to us from 93 different schools, and from 43 different parishes, from every corner of the Valley.
Athletics. More than 60% of our students participate in a school athletic activity. Our teams compete at the 5A level. Boys' sports: football, basketball, baseball, soccer, swimming, volleyball, tennis, golf, cross country, and track. Girls' sports: volleyball, basketball, softball, soccer, swimming, tennis, golf, cross country, track, and spirit line. These sports are available at every grade level.
College. In recent years, more than 60% of our graduates moved directly to a four-year university after graduation; 92% of our graduates continued their education at either a two-year or a four-year school.
Tuition. We have two tuition rates. For the 2006/2007 school year, the Catholic rate is $6,675 and the Full Tuition rate is $8,960. Payments may be made in full in advance, by semester in advance, and in installments over a ten-month period.
Financial Aid. Saint Mary's has an established tuition financial assistance program that seeks to help families make a Saint Mary's education possible for their children. All financial assistance is based on demonstrated need; no academic or athletic scholarships are awarded by the school. Applications for financial assistance are made available to both incoming freshmen and returning students in the spring of each school year and must be submitted on or before April 15. For the 2006-2007 school year, financial aid from all sources benefited 51% of our student body, with 45% receiving $1,000 or more and 30% receiving $3,000 or more. Overall, after taking into account funds from all sources, our students have received more than $1,400,000 in financial aid.
