The 2014 Parish Leadership Conference is especially designed to assist parishes in “Rebuilding”. Sessions are tailored to meet the needs of all ministries, staff and volunteers. Parish staffs and leadership councils are encouraged to attend as a team (a great Staff Day resource). See the conference brochure for more details.
Featuring Sherry Weddell, Author of Forming Intentional Disciples: The Path to Knowing and Following Jesus
Sherry Weddell is the author of the best-selling book, Forming Intentional Disciples: the Path to Knowing and Following Jesus. She is the editor of and a contributor to Becoming a Parish of Intentional Disciples (2015).
Sherry was a new Catholic when she created the Called & Gifted discernment process in 1993, the first gifts discernment program designed especially for Catholics. In the years since then, she has helped tens of thousands of Catholics around the world discern their charisms and has trained thousands of pastoral leaders to facilitate discernment. Sherry’s major creative project in 2015 is revising and updating the Called & Gifted discernment process to meet increasing global demand.
Sherry co-founded the Catherine of Siena Institute in 1997 with Fr. Michael Sweeney, OP. Collaboration between the clergy and the laity has always been central to the Institute’s work because the Institute emerged out of Sherry’s personal collaboration with Fr. Michael, who was her pastor.
Sherry currently leads CSI’s international network of traveling teachers and regional collaborators. The Institute team has spent much time over the past 10 years training thousands of parish and diocesan leaders at all levels to effectively call Catholics to begin consciously following Jesus as his disciple in the midst of his Church, and how to create a normative culture of intentional discipleship at the parish level.
To date, Sherry and her collaborators have worked directly with over 100,000 Catholics in well over 500 parishes in 130 dioceses and 11 countries on 5 continents. Sherry has spoken in hundreds of parishes, conferences, diocesan leadership gatherings, clergy convocations, gatherings of religious, and seminaries including the 2015 Meyer Lecture at Mundelein Seminary.
When Sherry is not on the road, she enjoys living in and exploring the Colorado Rockies and tending her high altitude Tuscan garden.
