Mission Statement

The Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministries exists to serve, support, and be a resource to parishes, institutions and movements in the development of ministry to all youth and young adults. This Office assists ministries to challenge youth and young adults to come and encounter the living Jesus Christ; to embrace and grow in their faith; and, to discern their vocation to serve their family, mission of the Church and local community.

To empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today
To draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the Catholic faith community.
To foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person.

Services of the Office

Professional Formation

  • Certification and credentialing for Coordinators of Youth Ministry. In Conjunction with Kino Institute, provides courses toward the certification of Parish Coordinators of Youth Ministry based on the National Federation of Catholic Youth Ministry Competency Standards.

 

Volunteer and CORE Team Formation

  • Volunteer Certification  - We strive to certify all volunteers in ministry with our youth and young adults in a variety of ways. In addition to the above opportunities, we offer individual parish training sessions as well as larger Regional/Parish Ministry Formation Days. Training is also available at the Diocesan Ministry Formation Centers, and through Diocesan Conferences.
  • All volunteers and team members are required to attend Safe Environment Training.

 

Direct Services 

  • Parish Consultation With Pastors and Coordinators - A member of the office team is happy to work with the pastor, parish pastoral staff, Coordinator of Youth Ministry, Coordinator of Young Adult and Campus Ministry, or the Ministry Team to develop a total parish vision for youth and young adult ministries, tailored to the needs of the specific parish.
